For the dough you spent on all that lot you could have moved to a less pikey area.

Maybe you had a dodgy one, Swann stuff is fine and easy for the home. I'm not sure you'll get any easier! Mine is the same as Swann.

I put CCTV on my house after my car got nicked from outside my house and there was a spate of burglaries in the area. I'm on the end of the road and my front door, back gate and back door are all concealed. Neighbours have since had break-ins and attempted break-ins, while I've been left alone - I'm 100% certain it's down to the cameras.

It's not how I want to live, but this is the reality of it - we all saw the Hornchurch burglary statistics recently. CCTV, burglar alarm, extra locks on everything, security light, timer lights inside.... it gives me security and peace of mind.

I've read about people hacking into home security cameras. Apparently thieves can buy some software to do this to assist them with planning robberies.

Nothing wrong with setting up home camera protection that you can keep an eye on. If anything it should be encouraged

But CCTV as a whole has created a vile horrid British grassing culture that don't sit well with most of us

I've been using Manything.com and have 2 cameras set up.

Can view the live footage / events on my other phone or watch it from the web.

All depends if you have an old smartphone not being used though.

Works pretty well.

Just so you know, if the camera angles just look at your property then you are find, it it gets any part outside your property then you need permission.

Also if you are looking for it to catch people doing something, you need to have proper signage otherwise a defence lawyer worth his salt will get the evidence chucked out.

I set up 4 sony IP cams on our network at my work, 10 logins, pretty cool

My boss is a voyeur and I keep finding him checking out the birds in reception, and zooming in on birds legs and tights. Odd ball!

Re: CCTV bods
...and what CCTV doesn't pick up there's some busy cunt with a mobile phone or dash-cam who can't wait to upload your racist/sexist/homophobic/anti-Muslim/existentialist chanting or 'bad' driving to either a news outlet or police Youtube channel.

And let's not forget these new hidden speed cameras on motorways. I don't want to start a political debate but didn't the tories in their last manifesto say 'the war on drivers is a labour policy and is about to end'?

Then somehow a London-wide 20mph speed limit and hidden speed cameras appear. How the fuck did that happen? I'm pretty sure I didn't vote for it.

And while I'm ranting and raving, all these speed cameras have actually made the general standard of driving worse. I remember a time when a police car could stop you for a whole range of bad driving. Now there do not seem so many traffic police and the speed camera can punish you for only one narrowly defined offence, and not even very dangerous one at that. I'm not sure how many accidents occur because you're doing 56mph in a 50?

Now I see loads of cars parked on the approaches to zebra crossings, going the wrong way around traffic islands, texting or holding a phone up to their ear etc. properly potentially dangerous stuff.

As for CCTV, do we ever see it STOP a crime taking place? Of course we don't. It's a lazy-arsed way of policing.

Anyway, what the fuck was this thread about? I seem to have gone off on one.

Re: CCTV bods
No, but on the subject of CCTV, I read that there are more CCTV camera's in Britain than any other country in the world and there are more CCTV cameras on the Shetland Isles than in the whole of New Zealand.

Think we might be obsessed with them.
